“I will read you”

Ukrainian-Polish Online Youth Exchange: “I will read you” was provided by HEureka Generator Association in partnership with NGO “Future We” and Dnipro university of Technology. It was supported by Polish Ukrainian Council of Youth Exchange.

The purpose of the UPOYE:“I will read you” is to overcome stereotypes and prejudices related to Poles and Ukrainians and everyday life in both countries. The objectives of the project: to create an online space for constructive, friendly, active communication on the topic of stereotypes; to share the information about importance of overcoming of prejudices and stereotypes, to expand the opportunities of Ukrainian-Polish cooperation for the development and implementation of joint projects in the future.

32 participants from Ukraine and Poland took a part in this project during 17-24 of August 2020. This was the first experience of online exchanges for most of them and they were impressed by the variety of activities. Our university was presented by Lesia Doroshenko, Kateryna Pryazhnikova, Nihar Musaieva, Vitaliia Kurylo and Zahar Rizo. They noted that online projects could be interesting and useful but offline communication and trips are better for understanding and intercultural integration.

During the project, the participants developed their skills related to the organization of an online event based on the ‘Human Library’ method, which provides a meeting with people exposed to stereotypical perception and prejudice. They were readers, and several of them were ’books’ that shared their experience during webinars.

The organizers used such methods as online integration games, Human Library, reflection group, internet event, virtual tour, On Line evaluation sessions, YouTube video premiere, virtual exhibition, Webinar.
