The direct speech from the participant
– Where did you live (dormitory, rented apartment, hostel, other)? Dormitory. It is important to pay attention to the kitchen. During the first two weeks, you should carefully check for any damages or defects and inform the Hausmeister about them.
– Did you receive a scholarship for the mobility program? If yes, to what extent did it cover the minimum necessary expenses for accommodation? Yes, I received a scholarship. It covered 100% of the costs.
– From your own experience, what should a future mobility participant pay attention to first during preparation? Often it is cheaper and more convenient to travel to the destination by plane from Chișinău, especially when flying with low-cost airlines and buying tickets in advance. Look for such airports (near Stuttgart these are Memmingen (Munich-West) and Baden-Baden/Karlsruhe. Do not fly to Frankfurt-Hahn). Download the VVS Mobil app and buy a Deutschlandticket, since purchasing single tickets is very expensive. You can cancel the ticket for the next month until the 10th of the current month. It is also advisable to find a family doctor in advance (via Google Maps) and register with them after arrival.
– What unexpected challenges did you face during mobility? You need to manage all your documents independently. At the university, the responsible person was supposed to submit our documents to the insurance company but failed to do so, and everyone with AOK insurance received a fine (which we successfully appealed). From my experience, I strongly recommend double-checking all paperwork yourself. In Esslingen, the emergency service operates only until 18:00 and there are no specialized doctors available, so it is better to go directly to Stuttgart (Katharinen Hospital).
– Briefly describe your expectations from the mobility program and whether they were met. I expected to study new foreign languages and immerse myself in another culture – and this was successfully achieved.
– In which educational and cultural activities did you participate during mobility? A CV-writing workshop, a trip to Munich, and a visit to the Mercedes Museum.
– What are your most vivid impressions from mobility? The trip to Munich.
– Would you like to take part in a mobility program again, and if so, where? Yes, probably to the same place or to the United Kingdom.
– Would you recommend participating in a mobility program? Yes.
