Direct speech from a mobility program participant
– Where did you live (dormitory, rented, hostel, other)? Dormitory, Raatuse 22.
– Did you receive a scholarship for the mobility program? If yes, what percentage of the minimum necessary living expenses did the scholarship cover? Yes, I received a scholarship, and it fully covered the minimum necessary living expenses.
– Based on your experience, what should future mobility program participants pay attention to when preparing for it? First of all, you should be confident in your level of English; a B2 level or higher is ideal. Next, you should research the university you are applying to: what subjects are offered and whether you will be able to transfer and validate them at your home university. You need to carefully review university websites and understand, at least in general terms, the application process, as well as the procedure for applying for dormitory accommodation or exploring other housing options. This preparation helps you feel more confident and not overwhelmed by the flow of information. – What unexpected issues did you encounter during the mobility? Adapting to fully offline learning was a challenge. Although we have a mixed format of education, studying entirely in classrooms felt different. At first, it was a bit difficult, but I adapted over time, and now I even look forward to when we can fully return to offline learning in Ukraine.
– Briefly describe your expectations from the mobility and whether they were realized. I expected to immerse myself in a new academic environment, gain new knowledge, meet interesting people, broaden my horizons, and observe different teaching methods. All of these expectations were fulfilled 100%, and I am extremely happy about it.
– What educational and cultural activities did you participate in during the mobility? Yes, I participated in various educational and cultural activities organized by the Student Union of the University of Tartu. These included themed parties, karaoke, cultural evenings, and even a tea ceremony. These events allowed me to combine studying with an active and enjoyable student life.
– Share your most vivid impressions of the mobility. First, I would highlight the orientation course we attended before the start of studies-it helped us understand the documents and necessary procedures, and also introduced us to the cultural aspects of the city and Estonia. Second, meeting Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the President of Estonia (2006-2016), as part of one of my courses. It was incredibly interesting to listen to him and especially meaningful to engage in dialogue with such a distinguished person. Third, my first karaoke experience, which took place during one of the student union events. Overall, all the wonderful parties were memorable-it is very difficult to single out just one moment among so many positive experiences.
– Would you like to go on the mobility program again, and to which country? Yes, I would. Sweden or Austria.
– Would you recommend participating in the mobility program? Absolutely, 100%. For me, it became a very important, vivid, and valuable experience that I will remember both when applying the knowledge I gained and when recalling my student life. ![]()
